For boats
The town is
located at W end of Golfo Nuevo. This gulf is not easy for sailing. Strong E or
W winds, short waves and currents makes voyage uncomfortable.
Call
Prefectura Naval of Puerto Madryn (call sign L4S, CH16), one hour before
arriving or just before departing. .
There is no
marina, pier or other structures to moor. You have to drop the anchor in front
of Club Nautico Atlantico Sur (white building with blue strips) north of Muelle
Piedrabuena. Drop the anchor about 400 meters from the beach (depends on tide) and
100-200 of the wharves Muelle Piedrabuena. Depth about 6-10 meters. Good
holding. Anyway it’s still not a save
place, open for N-NE-E winds and waves from that directions.
In the
front of Yacht Club (CNAS) you can find few buoys, but they are for small
yachts only (less that 8m). There is no other buoys (FEB2016) to moor, shown on
many charts or pilot books.
Best
landing area is Muelle Piedrabuena (there are stairs from the water up to the
wharf, sometimes occupied by see lions. Good option is to climb up by the pilot
boats moored in the middle of the wharf. Do not leave the dinghy there. Landing
on the beach is possible, but it’s a long distance and do not forget about
tides.

anchoring visit Prefectura office ASAP, it’s located 100 m north (turn right) of
