For boats

Puerto Eden has a population about 100 and is one of the most isolated places in the world.  It’s also very wet place with regular strong winds from N. Anyway it’s the only place to stop for yacht going between Puerto Montt and Puerto Williams (that does not require a long detour).

Call Armada Puerto Eden on approach (VHF CH16 than 14).

Drop your anchor in the bay facing the village. Do not approach to close of N and W shore, because of rocks and shallows. The depths on E part of the bay are more regular. Holding is good, bottom is mud and rocks.

There is few wharfs, but berthing there is forbidden.

Fuel – visit Don Jose Navero (see chart) and ask about fuel. Usually he safe some drums for sailors. The fuel is expensive (1000 pesos per liter in 2016), you can pay in US Dollars. Fuel can be delivered by yourself in your jerry cans or tank directly from drums (moor to the head of carabinieros wharf – depth min. 4m for fueling) by handy pump.

Water is available at Carabinieros wharf. Moor for a while to the head of carabinieros wharf – depth min. 4m.

There are 3 small groceries (super mercado) in the village with very limited goods and high pricess. US Dollars are acceptable, but pesos is preferred.

You can order small breads or eat a dinner – ask Don Jose.

The Navimag ferry “EDEN” visiting Puerto Eden during passage Puerto Montt <-> Puerto Natales. It’s possible to hop on, ask Carabinieros or local people,  local boat will transfer you from boat to the ferry.

For crews

You can take a hot shower at Don Jose’s house. Wifi is available at school (escuela – large white building) or ask Don Jose.

There is a nice short trip to the top of small hill with nice view point – direction: high radio mast.

This is poor small village but people are very friendly and helpful, unfortunately they do not speak English.
