For boats
Puerto Melinka is a small town with population about 1400.
Call Armada (call sign: Puerto Melinka Radio CH 16) and inform about your plans and ETA.
There are some wharfs in the harbour, big one not usefull for yachts, small one belongs to Armada but is to shallow and too light.
Moor to one of few mooring boys (ask Armada for permission) or drop the anchor.
Bay is open for South winds and waves, but mooring to the boy is safe.
Use Armada’s wharf for landing point of dinghy.
Formalities
Visit Armada office ASAP with boat document, Zarpe and passports (only captain). It’is located at the end of light wharf on the left.
Entering to the Estero Alvares bay is not recommended – many shoals.
There are some groceries, bars and restaurants (more and better than in Puerto Aguirre).
For crews
No WC, no shower.
There is WiFi spot in main square (opposite to wooden church).
Fees
No fees for mooring to the buoy or anchoring.
