For boats
This is a
big city. Population about 150.000.
There is a
three marina – one by one.
Marina
Oxxean is a safe place, where the boat can be left for long time. There are
three docs, one especially for yachts. There is 230V, 380V and water on quay.
There can berth 30 vessels up to 60m long. The charge is quite high (compare to
others marinas), but usually there is a space (others are full).
Credits
card are accepted, lonher stay negotiable.
There is a
Diesel station on the quay – easy to fill up.
There is a
24h security, some repairs can be done.
Stuff speaks English and are helpful. Gas bottles can be refilled.
There is a
many supermarkets in the town, I prefer JUMBO, because they deliver your
products directly to the marina.
Many ATM's,
every king of shops, maritime shops, possibilities of repairs. Good place to
prepare for ocean voyage.
Formalities:
Puerto Montt is a Port of entry. On departure or arriving captain has to visit Armada. Take your boat documents, Zarpe, and passports and go to the Armada office by bus no 4 or taxi. Office is located at Av. Angelmo (big white-blue building about 1km after local market).
If you check in or out from Chile you have to visit Custums (Aduana) also, located in the same building.

For crews
WC, Hot showers WiFi, WiFi (rest) room, washing and drying machine,
You should visit a local supermarket, good vegetables, cheese, other goods. Taste there a ceviche, empanadas and other see food in many small restaurants around.
The center of the town has many restaurants, bars, shops etc. I suggest a dinner in Tablon del Ancla with typical Chilean food (beef, fries etc.).
Bus stop to the market and the center of the town is 100m right from the marina entrance – ahead of stadium. Bus no 4.
If you have a free day visit Puerto Varas – nice touristic village with lakes and view of volcano. You can get there by minibus (from bus terminal) – 30 min, 1000 pesos.
Vulcano is also worth to visit. Prefer
