For boats

Baie du Controlleur is on SE corner of NukuHiva. The bay is 3 NM long what provide good protection before swell. The bay ends with 3 fingers, the west ends with small beach, the middle end nice village of Taipivai, the east end smaller village of Hooumi. It is possible
to anchor in each of them. The best in my opinion is the middle one with Taipivai village.

Drop the anchor at position

08 deg 52.785 S and 140 deg 02.829 W (depth about 5m, mud and sand)

There is enough place for many yachts, 20 or more, usually there is just a few. There could be some swell, specially when strong SE or S is blowing, but it is very safe place.

Dinghy landing is a little difficult, on LW keep close to E cost, heading to the mouth of the small river. Just in the entrance the depth will be about 0.4m. Leave the dinghy and draw it to the beach on the left. On HW you need to go closer to the beach on the left in rivers mouth.

On HW there is possibility to enter the river and sail up, there is a small wharf (about 500meters). But it the water level decrease your way back could be to shallow.

Water: no water

There is groceries with limited products, a church,

For crews

No shower or WC. No Wifi.

Town of Taipivai at head of bay is wonderful, nice grocery, church but no restaurants.

If you like to hike there is a very wonderful waterfall (about 2 hour one way). Stay on west side of river and follow road. It will split once about 45 minutes in, just stay straight / right (don't take driveway to left). Path could be hard to see sometimes but overall easy.
