For boats
This is a
very nice anchorage. Far away from traffic and villages but close to the sandy
beach and nature, with good snorkeling spot.
Approach
Sail
through Pass Farerea, and then turn south towards Bai Apoomati and Motu
Murimahora.
Follow the
red, gree and cardinal marks. The depth in the channel is minimum 7m deep. When
you approach close to the middle of the Motu Murimahora you will find a
gorgeous
anchorage
in a 5m deep sand
Anchorage
There is a
room for many boats, drop the anchor at position:
16 45.838S
and 150 57.576W (sand, 5m depth, good holding).
The bay is
safe in all condition. During strong wind from S-SE-E (more than 20-25kn) there
could be a stronger funneled wind. There is also an outgoing current (0.5 if
calm wind, 1.0-1.5 when strong wind). Swell if exist is not so strong.
There are
few places for dinghy landing, on the left (motu Murimahora) on the one of the
few beaches.
If you want
to land on the right (Huahine Iti) go
about 0.6NM North, and there is a small wharf on your starboard. During moving
to this spot keep all the time black-white marks on the E part of the channel
while you approach to the end of motu Murimahora. Position of the wharf:

and 150 57.448W.

Snorkeling –
there is some corals around. Best spot is on position:
16 45.740S
and 150 57.632W.
The coral
in not so good but still many fishes. Watch the current, if it’s strong you
should assure a dinghy with ‘driver’ for assist.
Visit Motu
Murimahora and meet nice people. There is some beaches on both sides of the
island.
