Approach
Approach
from north to the channel going west of island Toopua is well marked by
cardinal buoy then red buoys (leave to port) and green (leave to starboard).
Our charts (Navionics) do not cover precise location of this buoys. So, do a
eye ball navigation, it’s easy route.
At the end
(SW corner) of Toopua
Island a Hilton Hotel is
located – you will see a lot of wooden houses on the water. Just before the
Hotel there is a plenty of space for anchoring. Bottom is sand with depths
about 6 to 13 meters.
It is near
position:
16 31.5433
S 151 46.3433 W
This spot is
very good protected from prevailing winds (NE-E-SE-S) and no swell. If the wind
is blowing form NW-W-SW is also well protected, but drop your anchor 0.2-0.3NM
west of given position to have more space behind your stern.
It’s a calm,
beauty, nature around place with amazing view of Hotel and mountains.
For crews
Excellent
place for swimming around the boat.
You can eat
a dinner in the hotel’s restaurant and book an activities on hotel’s desk.
In 2016
hotel was renovated.
