For boats
Musket Cove
is well known for its sheltered yacht club, marina berths, moorings and
cruising grounds. And regularly attracts cruising and racing yachtsmen and
women from all over our beautiful, big blue planet.
Our yacht
club, and the unpretentious atmosphere at Musket Cove, symbolise everything
about the yacht club. Our membership is ‘countless’ – anyone who sails from a
foreign port into Musket Cove is eligible to become a member.
The
on-shore support facilities are many and varied, including a Trader store,
fueling and regular ferry service to Denarau.
Located on Malolo Lailai
Island in Fiji’s Mamanuca Group, the marina
has a well-protected basin containing 32 stern to berths for yachts up to 24m
in LOA and 2.5m draft.
Outside the
marina are 25 moorings set in deep water, 2 for yachts up to 24m and the
remainder for yachts up to 12m.
The resort
is set amongst the 600 tropical acres (240 hectares) of tall
coconut palms and tropical gardens on an island fringed by 12kms of white sandy
beach. The island overlooks a sheltered lagoon, which has been a haven for visiting
yachts from around the world for over 30 years.
APPROACH
There are
to passes in outer reefs. The West one is wide and deep, we did it, but there
is a South pass, shallower, but many boats go
that shorter way. When you are inside the lagoon keep a sharp look for few
reefs (easy to see) and go to the anchorage area.
MARINA
There is a
small Marina
close to the resort at position:
17 46.280’S
and 177 11.588’E
The
entrance is a 2.5m deep. There are leading lights, but I do not recommend going
there by night. There are just few places to berth available, need to be booked
in advance.
FORMALITIES
This is not
port of entry. The nearest one is Vuda Marina Fiji, about 20NM NE.
