For boats
Wini is a
small village on N cost of Timor
Island (population of
2.000)
APPROACH
Approach is
easy. Watch on small reef patch close to the harour. There is a tall green
tower with green light standing in the middle of the reef. Approximate position
of the reef:
09 10.422S
and 124 29.494E
ANCHORING
Anchoring
is not easy, because acceptable depths are close to the shore. I recommend to
drop the anchor from the bow, release as long as possible anchor chain and tie
long line to the tree on the beach,
We did it

09 10.642S
and 124 29.838E (27 meters, sand, good holding
Be ready
for afternoon breeze from N, which makes staying roll and uncomfortable. I
don’t like that anchorage, you need to be “on watch” all the time.
DINGHY LANDING
Just on the
beach. You can tie the dinghy to the tree or fence.

OTHER
Sail
Indonesia Rally visited Wini first time in 2017.
For crews
The village of Wini is not big but very stretch. When
you leave the dinghy and cross the beach you will be on the main road. You can
go both direction. On the left you will find few shops, 2-3 small restaurants,
and small resort.
On the
right you will cross 2-3 bridges, and that you will pass next few groceries and
restaurants, finally you will get a small local market with vegetables and
fruits. That’s it.
During the
rally they organize very nice trip to the traditional village in the mountains.
3 hours one way by bus, but it’s worth.
Fees
No fess for
anchorage.
