For boats
This spot
is calm in the SE monsoon season. Gili Lawa Laut is another beautiful anchorage.
Charter and local boats often moor here.
Approach
The C-maps
are way off in this area. Do not pass anywhere near Crystal Rock at
night as the location on the C-map and Navionics are wrong. The location
of Crystal Rock is: 008 26.37S and 119
34.03 E (0.4nm NNE of NW tip of Gili Lawa Laut).
Mooring buoys
NOTE: anchoring
is prohibited here.
There are
two mooring buoys, often taken by local boats. It is good to come here early
morning. If you are lucky tie a line and enjoy the island and reef. If both
taken you can just float on the surface and snorkel alternately.
You can also ask local boat stuff to moor alongside to them, but at least one
person should be on the boat to release the lines if needed.
For crews
The
snorkeling and diving are excellent here. Dive or snorkel along the coastal
reef, swim to the white sand beach, or for the more adventurous take the dinghy
out to Crystal Rock. Snorkeling and diving here is amazing but watch for strong
currents. Black tip and white tip sharks are often swimming here.
There are
no paths but hiking the foothills is easy and worth it for the beauty view.
